Nick Fairweather
'Exploring Raasay' by Nick Fairweather is published by Thirsty Books in July 2015. He is also the author of 'Cycling Around Scotland'.
Nick Fairweather was born in Sussex in 1945 and brought up in the south of England by his Scottish parents. Childhood holidays in Scotland fostered his love of the hills and since moving to Edinburgh in 1974 he has made his way to the tops of all the Munros and many other hills.
He also enjoys cycling and the second edition of his book ‘Cycling around Scotland’, describing a journey on a mountain bike around the coastline of Scotland, was published by Argyll Publishing in 2010.
In the last five years he has been slow cycling across southern Europe in two week sections, from northern Spain through France, Italy and Croatia to Albania and on to Athens. A few years ago he, and his wife Dorothy, bought a house on Raasay and Nick has been exploring the island ever since.
